【Official】Yado no Kura Hug

Live like a local in the place that Hearn and Setsu loved

The sparkling surface of Lake Shinji and the green pines along the river swaying in the breeze.
Supporting life in Matsue, just as it has always done,
Yado no Kura Hug is located at the foot of Matsue Ohashi Bridge.

This was once the residence of the Meiji era literary master Lafcadio Hearn and his wife Setsu.
It is said to be a place where they lived in harmonious harmony.
"We want you to spend happy, loving times together, just like you two."
With this idea in mind, we created a rental accommodation facility.

Family, lovers, friends and beloved dogs.
A special someone,
With a special time,
Hug. (Embrace)

Like a ray of warm light shining into your heart.
Thinking of someone, thinking of each other
Enjoy an unforgettable stay.

-HISTORY-

  • Remembering the sound of "Karakoro" geta

In 1890, Lafcadio Hearn was appointed as an English teacher in Matsue.
The area near Matsue Ohashi Bridge was where he and his wife Setsu lived and used as a second home.
The sound of geta sandals walking on the wooden bridge and the morning mist over Lake Shinji...
His book contains many fascinating anecdotes about everyday life in Matsue.

"Yadonokura Hug" is a successor to the former Naniwa Ryokan, which was founded in the area where Hearn lived.
By experiencing the history and culture of this area, we hope you will enjoy your trip to Matsue from a new perspective.

-SPACE-

  • A space where everyone can "hug"

In accommodation facilities, we often see a focus on the bedroom, which is a place for relaxation.
At this facility, we value the interaction space, where you can relax and unwind.

You can gather around the table and chat, or just enjoy some quiet time.
We have created plenty of space for conversations with loved ones.
In addition to a kitchen and dining space, we also have a lounge exclusively for guests where you can enjoy free drinks and music.

-LOCATION-

  • Stay on the elegant banks of the Ohashi River

This facility stands at the mouth of the Ohashi River, where many literary figures, including Lafcadio Hearn, were fascinated and inspired to write. The surface of the river is reflected in the windows of the lounge building, and the surface quickly expands and transforms into Lake Shinji, stretching out in the distance.

The morning mist scenery described by Hearn and the sunset in Matsue, one of Japan's top 100 sunsets.
Spring is a dazzling, flickering brilliance, while winter is a dull, snuggly color... Enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime moment that changes with the seasons and the passage of time.

-HOT SPRING-

  • Immerse yourself in Matsue Lake Shinji Onsen

Matsue Shinjiko Onsen, located on the shore of Lake Shinji, is a natural hot spring with abundant therapeutic properties that springs from 1,250 meters underground at 77.2 degrees. In order to allow you to experience these ingredients directly, the baths at this facility are supplied with hot spring water that is not circulated or heated (water can be added to adjust the temperature).

Additionally, we designed the bathroom to be spacious so that families and groups can relax in it.

Immerse yourself in your private bath filled with natural hot spring water and enjoy a brief respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

  • Spend time with your dog without any worries

Create new travel memories with your beloved dog, an important member of your family.
This facility is also a great place for those with small to medium sized dogs to relax.
